This is my handmade crocheted Easter eggs.
The term “Easter” refers to the end of the fasting period before Easter. The name of Easter is related to the great Thursday and the great Friday, which refer to the sacred supper of the New Testament and to the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.
On Easter Eve, dumplings, pies and coloured eggs were traditionally eaten.Painted eggs were placed behind the icons for good health and on the windowsill for the dead. According to the custom, eggs were picked up in the village: at dawn, adult young men and children in the morning. The painted and blessed egg was believed to have magical qualities.
